Texas Real Estate License Requirements

Education:Prelicense requirement:
(Correspondence study allowed: college or Univ.)
180 classroom hrs*
Postlicense: 30 hrs* each, 1st 3 yrs of license90 hrs*
Broker (Must have active TX Sales license 2 years prior to application)900 hrs* (cumulative total)

Moral Character:Moral character is demonstrated by a lack of convictions for felonies or misdemeanors (traffic tickets do NOT count). Applicants who have convictions should find out in advance if their record will prevent licensing by completing the "Application for Moral Character Determination" with a check for $25 sent to TREC.
Sponsoring Broker:Applicant must be sponsored by a Texas real estate broker with an active license. The sponsoring broker must complete the "Application for Real Estate Salesman License" & submit the necessary documents with the applicant's check for the proper amount to TREC or online.
