Hispanic Real Estate Professionals Host First National Conference

The National Association of Hispanic Real Estate Professionals (NAHREP) will host the nation's first real estate conference dedicated exclusively to Hispanic marketing from November 18 to 20, 2001 in San Diego, California.

Former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development and American CityVista CEO Henry G. Cisneros will be a keynote speaker at the three-day event and will field questions on how to effectively recruit Hispanic employees. American CityVista hopes to capitalize on the housing crunch and a new interest in city living by building housing projects for middle-class families on underused urban properties.

Former White House Chief of Staff Leon Panetta, will discuss how a company can work more productively with the federal government and the nonprofit community. Other speakers include Real Trends CEO, Steve Murray; La Bamba director, Luis Valdez; and Century 21's Top Realtor, Marty Rodriguez.

The educational sessions on tap include tracks for Loan Originators, Real Estate Agents, and Corporations. Speakers will cover a number of topics, including:

"Hispanic mortgage lending attitudes-What is real and what are the myths?"

"Best practices for working with Hispanic real estate agents-How to earn their business"

"Strategies of top-producing Hispanic real estate agents: How to take your successful business to the stratosphere"

"Creative solutions for serving the Hispanic homebuyer"

"Counseling and homebuyer seminars: How to turn a valuable public service into a legitimate business opportunity"

"Should corporations have a social agenda?"

Sponsors include Fannie Mae, Citigroup and Freddie Mac. Noted author, director and playwright Luis Valdez, will be the closing session keynote speaker.

Founded in 1999, NAHREP's mission is to "promote the general success of Hispanic real estate professionals and to increase the percentage rate of homeownership among Hispanic-Americans."

Statistics shows that Hispanics will soon be the largest minority group in the population. By developing a united voice for all Hispanic real estate professionals, NAHREP feels ensure the future growth of Hispanic-American homeownership and, in turn, create a strong American economy.
